Virginia Bell – Support Worker

Virginia is our Support Worker in Team Northam, who has lived in Wheatbelt most of her life, she moved to the Perth metro area for some time but took the first opportunity to return. Her main hobby is doing crafts, which she on occasion sells with the aim of making enough to hold her own stall. She likes to spend time with her family and cares about them a lot: “I have 5 grown children, many grandchildren and a few greatgrandchildren.”

She says: “I was working in the aged care sector until we lost a few elderly clients in a short time frame. I decided to buy a truck and drove for some time before deciding that I wanted to be at home more. This is when I started working in the mines and travelled around Australia with my work for 12 years before deciding to come home and care for my husband who suffers from vascular dementia.”

Virginia resumed working in the care industry about 5 years ago and thought that this was the place for her. “My goal for myself and my team is to encourage the clients and staff to be excited to attend a shift and be excited about what was achieved on the shift. I feel that our clients are special in their own right and we need to enhance their lives.”
