Description

Neighbourhood Care provides people with, support and care from small, self-managing teams, consisting of community nurses, allied health therapists and support workers. We are looking for an (experienced) Support Worker in Northam (WA) who sees his / her work as a profession and strives to provide the best care and support. As a Support Worker at Neighbourhood Care, you will be focused on supporting people to live their best lives by finding ways that are meaningful to them. 

In collaboration with the those who receive services, their families and their wider network of supports, you together with your Neighbourhood Care team will work collaboratively and innovatively to support and assist achieving the person’s needs and goals whilst ensuring adequate safeguarding to improve their lifestyle. The day-to-day tasks of a Trainee Support Worker will vary depending on the individual needs of the person being supported. A typical shift may involve assisting someone get ready for the day (including personal care and administering medications), do some housework, go out with friends or to work, communicating with others and always getting to know them better as a person. 

Responsibilities

Your day-to-day tasks as a Support Worker will vary depending on the individual’s needs. You will work with a range of clients with varying ages and backgrounds. You will provide tailored services that really make a positive difference. Aside from your work as a Support Worker you are a team member in a self-managing team. This means you will have opportunities to contribute on a broader scale and develop your own skills in a team setting.

You are an enthusiastic individual who is excited to provide care and support to people in the comfort of their own home and likes working collaboratively in a small team. You have a passion for people receiving services in our neighbourhoods and will explore new developments in home care and support.

Requirements

  • A minimum of Certificate III in Disability or equivalent
  • Demonstrated commitment to human rights-based, person-centred support practices
  • Resilient and positive outlook
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Working with Children Check
  • Australian driver’s licence & own car
  • Full Australian working rights
  • First Aid certificate (including CPR)
